Our Imaging Facility is equipped with fluorescence-based imaging systems, allowing for high powered optical visualisation of fluorescently labelled cells or parts of cells.
Our expertise means we are able to guide users on the appropriate system to use for their experimental needs.
The Imaging Facility offers a range of technologies including a Zeiss Axiovert 100 Inverted Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope, which enables us to image samples with high resolution; produce 3D images through optical Z slices and carry out co-localisation studies.
We also have an Olympus BX51 Fluorescent Microscope, which allows for highly sensitive and selective images to be produced with a small number of fluorescent molecules. This microscope has an in-built wheel, which means it is possible to buy additional filters to suit your experimental needs.
For high content screening we have a Thermo Scientific CellInsight NXT, which combines high quality imaging and fast performance for visualising cells in multi-well plates. In addition to high throughput imaging, the CellInsight NXT allows the user to measure individual cells or sub-cellular regions for area, size and shape.
